That's one of the reasons why I use NoScript. I can't read in peace if there is some ad next to it which constantly tries to grab my attention with motion or blinking. There are also animated ads, which are very distracting. You aren't offering them something for money, you're offering them something for being annoyed/bored and/or for wasting their time.

Not watching ads (no matter whether it's TV or on the internet) is not piracy. I'd rather pay you those 2 cents than sit through 20+ seconds of crap I don't care about. Why is it so much cheaper than print or TV? Why do you only get money if the user shows some sort of interest? Whenever there is a commercial break, people tend to switch the channel, take a piss, or at least mute the TV (because ads are loud and obnoxious).Īlso, video ads (as seen on Blip etc.) are stupid, too. Every once and awhile I come across an article saying more and more users are ignoring ads with increasingly alarming statistics. People are fed up with the assault on their eyes. It's getting harder and harder to advertise. There's going to be a radical shift in the next 50 years as the internet savvy generation grows up. I really do think that all the people clicking on ads don't know any better. If I do click on one it's by mistake or I've been misled. I at least, have absolutely zero trust in any and all web advertisements. Unlike most other mediums they interrupt you when you are actively consuming content.Īfter all of the mistrust and abuse by advertisers I can't really blame users for wanting to turn ads off.Īlthough AdBlock users would probably be the least likely people to click on an ad if they saw one, I'm sure they still would from time to time. Ad networks do a pretty awful job at screeningĪds have gotten obnoxious and try to trick the user into clicking.
